I have been working within the film industry for over 20 years. I started as a PR volunteer for a small local festival, went on working in the sales and marketing departments of a major studio, moved on to project scouting for acquisitions and co-productions and finally spearheaded a sales and acquisitions department for a prominent German mini major. In the course of my career, I have acquired over 300 films of all genres and from around the globe. And I have subsequently sublicensed a lot of them to television and online platforms. When I started out, the fax was still a common way of communication and Miramax movies attracted millions of people to the film theaters. Times have inevitably changed since then!
I love and respect great films today even more than I did yesterday. I have learnt to understand what a miracle it takes to bring all the various pieces together successfully. I see how challenging it is to nurture the creativity of the filmmakers and still stay focused on the final result while keeping costs manageable. It is like walking on a tightrope, with all its beauty but also countless possibilities to fail. The international market is attractive, seductive but also deceiving if not approached correctly.
This is when I came up with the idea to launch MK Film Consulting.
I want to offer my clients my international expertise and network of producers, financiers, sales agents and distributors. You can use me as a matchmaker to find the right partners who will understand your mission and bring your project to the next level.
In addition, I do have a trained eye for a marketable, final product as I have always stood close to the audience from the standpoint of a big national distributor.
