LOCARNO for travelers:
The town of Locarno is located on the northern shore of Lake Maggiore on the Maggia´s delta. It is the third largest city in the Ticino canton with population of about 16.000. The official language is Italian.
2,300 hours of sunshine per year, palm and lemon trees give the city its special charm. The heart of the city is the Piazza Grande. The narrow lanes of the Old Town all lead to the Piazza. Castello Visconteo, a castle dating back to the 12th century, lies at the edge of the Old Town. About a fifth of the castle has been preserved in its original state.
The pilgrimage church of Madonna del Sasso is located above Locarno, in Orselina. The church is said to have been established as a result of an appearance of the Virgin Mary. It is the most notable sight in Locarno, and boasts an extraordinary view of the city, the lake and the mountains.
Best experience: The view of the lake and mountains from Orselina. The spectacular open air screenings on Piazza Grande. A walk along the lake.
Best restaurants: Ristorante Da Valentino, Ristorante Centovalli, Ristorante Al Castagneto
9th Odessa International Film Festival
Back in Berlin from the 9th Odessa International Festival 2018, a young festival with international ambitions dedicated to the support and development of Ukrainian cinema inside the country and on international stage. The festival offers lots of industry events such as Pitching, Work In Progress, Odesa IFF ScripTeast Series projects. Ukrainian filmmakers bring in a lot of creativity and original stories. Looking forward to see some of these projects on the festival circuit.
ODESSA for travelers:
Founded in 1774 by Catherine the Great on the shores of the Black See, Odessa remained an urban pearl embracing international guests with friendliness and style. The eclectic architecture, the extraordinary number of trees adorning every single street in the centre and the mix of patina and really poor condition of the pavements and some buildings give the city a unique flair.
Best city experience: The beautifully renovated Opera House, Potemkin Stairs
Best restaurants: Tavernetta, Dacha, Kumanets
Best Café: Kompot
